Acollective - Break Apart
My friends in A Collective from Tel Aviv just released their newest video for "Break Apart". They bring a bunch of classic LP covers to life…
Check it out:
Me, Yoko, The Flaming Lips, and Dave Fridmann…
Ahh, it's that time of year again…
I've always been a fan of The Flaming Lips. I've met Yoko once or twice, and I did a AES panel with Dave Fridmann a few years ago. We all finally collaborated (via file sharing) on this cover for Amazon's Xmas compilation "All is Bright" - a streaming playlist for Amazon Prime members.
I recorded Yoko's vocals for this last month in NY.
Enjoy
Slate VMR released today
I've been beta testing this plug in for a couple of months now and I must say it sounds REALLY good. Definitely worth checking out…

Human Animal
Here's a track I mixed for The Golden Hippie last month. Pretty massive sounding choruses…
Cableguys Volume Shaper 4
I'm a big fan of this plug in. They've updated it to V4 and it now has multiband capability. It works really well as a MIDI gate which is how I use it most of the time.
Check it out…
It's official, I'm completely unpacked after the move to Texas…
File Under "Why wasn't this done sooner?"
Somebody figured out how to turn an inexpensive Behringer BCR 200 into a killer realtime step sequencer… (via createdigitalmusic.com)
Another Diego Stocco Video
Some very cool real-time processing of a piece of driftwood, wire, and some contact microphones…
Diego Stocco & Gotye - Manual Drum Machine
Diego Stocco once again shows us a trick or two with contact mics. The sounds here are unprocessed - screaming for a bit of bit crushing or distortion.
Weezer Tweet
This was a nice shoutout…
Wurli
This bad boy's about to get some upgrade love via some parts ordered from Vintage Vibe.
A shield for the reed bar (goodbye hum!) and a variable rate/depth tremolo mod. Can't wait
PSA: Shellshock OSX Security update:
Apple released a security update for the new Shellshock vulnerability. This is a small but very important update. With shellshock a hacker can run programs in the Linux shell of OSX without you even knowing it. Widely considered to be one of the more heinous security problems for Mac security to come around in a while. Here's the link for the update. It only takes a few seconds to install. No reboot required.

Boom Bip "All Hands"
Check out this video for Boom Bip's "All Hands".
I mixed this track a while ago but only recently found the video.
Slightly NSW.
ADISQ / Felix Nomination
Just got nominated for an ADISQ award -(Association québécoise de l'industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo). The award is called a Felix and I'm nominated for "sound mixing and recording of the year" for The Franklin Electric's "This is How I Let You Down".
See the other nominations here.
It's a great record and I'm really happy to have worked on it.
Here's their newest video (released today).
cableguys mention…
Got myself a quote and picture on the cableguys.de website for their Volume Shaper plugin. I use this thing on every mix I've been doing for the past year or so. Much more versatile on drums than a standard audio gate.
Check out the website over here…
Sweet EQ…
This sounds as good as it looks. Been using almost nothing but this on my last couple of mixes and it sounds great. The adjustable slope on the bell curves is something I've never seen before and is unbelievably useful, especially on guitars. Kudos to the guys over at FabFilter.
Check out the demo video here…
The Weeks "Buttons" video (w/ an appearance by yours truly)
I went down to Nashville last year to record a single for The Weeks. There were cameras rolling and somehow this guy that looks remarkably like myself shows up in the resulting video. You can hear him talking at the top and he appears in the video most prominently around the 2:37 mark.
A great song by a bunch of great guys. Check it out:
Kiev - Falling Bough
New video from Kiev - "Falling Bough" from the album of the same name.
Did this mix last year. Still sounds good; which is always pleasant…
